Ages 6+ · adapted groups
At Kiwadu Surf School, children learn to surf in a safe and fun environment on Penon beach in Seignosse. Adapted teaching, small groups, certified instructor.
Safety and teaching
Surfing is an amazing sport for kids: it builds confidence, balance and a connection with nature.
JB adapts his teaching to each age group. Younger children (6-8) work mainly in the whitewater with very stable foam boards. Older kids (9-14) progress quickly towards unbroken waves.
Safety is the absolute priority. JB holds a state teaching diploma and BNSSA lifeguard certification. He picks the gentlest conditions and stays in the water with the children throughout the session.
How it works
Children start with a fun warm-up on the sand. JB explains water safety, key signals and how waves work — all in simple, age-appropriate language.
The take-off (standing up on the board) is practised several times on the sand until the move becomes automatic. This key step helps children feel confident before entering the water.
Children start in the whitewater, where waves are gentle and the water is shallow. JB coaches them one by one, helping each child catch waves and stand up. The goal: every child leaves with a smile and the desire to come back!
Good to know
Children must be at least 6 years old. No upper age limit — teenagers are welcome too. Groups are organised by age range when possible.
Groups are deliberately capped at 6 children to ensure quality supervision and individual attention.
Smaller, lighter foam surfboards and wetsuits in every size are provided. Just bring a swimsuit and a towel.
Each session is 2 hours — roughly 30 minutes on the sand and 1h30 in the water. A pace suited to children, with breaks as needed.
